Shareholder Burt M. Kahn, is the managing director of the law firm and a litigator in the firm's medical negligence group. Since 2007 he has been repeatedly listed in both the Maryland and Washington DC versions of the SUPER LAWYER publication. as one of the top attorneys in both jurisdictions. Only five percent of the lawyers in each location state are selected. The selections for this esteemed list are made by the research team at Super Lawyers, which is a service of the Thomson Reuters, Legal division using a rigorous multi-phase selection process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates by the attorney-led research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area, and a good-standing and disciplinary check.
Mr. Kahn is also certified as a member of the MILLION DOLLAR ADVOCATES FORUM. The Million Dollar Advocates Forum is recognized as the most prestigious group of trial lawyers in the United States. Its membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements. There are now approximately 3000 members, located in all 50 states (plus several members in Canada and England). Many of the members have achieved numerous million and multi-million dollar results. Each member has demonstrated, in an objective and tangible way, their ability to accomplish superior results in complex cases.
Mr. Kahn has extensive experience in personal injury litigation, including the prosecution on behalf of victims of medical negligence cases, and serious motor vehicle accidents, as well as the defense of physicians in insurance excess cases, credentials challenges, and medical board licensing cases. In the past 25 years he has concentrated his practice in Forensic Medicine and complex personal injury..
Mr. Kahn has been a member of the firm from its inception in 1974 and became a partner in 1981. He attended law school at The Washington College of Law in Washington D.C. where he graduated as winner of the Gillette Prize for the highest scholastic average in his class.
His Recent Experience Includes Representation Of:
- Injured victims of trucking negligence resulting in a settlement with a present value of Five Million Dollars
- Representation of the numerous victims of medical negligence with verdicts and settlement in excess of one million dollars
- Participated as co-counsel in a nursing - multiple homicide case State of Maryland vs. Jane Bolding which received national media coverage, including Newsweek , New York Times, etc., resulting in acquittal following a six week bench trial
