Veronica Nannis, a partner in the Litigation Group, is a client advocate in a wide range of civil litigation including: commercial litigation, civil rights and employment law. She has also developed a practice representing "whistleblowers" in False Claim Act cases (Qui Tam) involving health care fraud and abuse. A former JGL law clerk herself, Ms. Nannis now hires and supervises the firm's law clerks as well as its litigation paralegals and associates.
Ms. Nannis received her juris doctor from the Catholic University of America and was active in the Latino American Law Students Association. She simultaneously received a master's degree in psychology from CUA, and holds a special interest in claims involving mental health issues.
In 2010 Ms. Nannis was selected by the D.C. Bar Board of Governors to serve on the Lawyer Assistance Committee and she serves as its Outreach to Law Schools Chairperson. In 2011, Ms. Nannis was honored by the Maryland Association for Justice with one of its Trial Lawyer of the Year awards for her work on the Espina v. Prince George's County civil rights case. She was also listed as a Rising Star for 2011 by the Superlawyers publication. Ms. Nannis is pleased to be a frequent guest discussing labor and employment law on the nationally broadcast bilingual radio show Acceso Legal with Ada Pozo, which can be heard nightly on Sirius XM Channel 146.
