Brett Weiss has experience in com­plex individual Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, and in Chapter 11 small business restruc­turing and reorganization. He has represented individual and corporate debtors and creditors in all phases of bankruptcy.

Mr. Weiss has received international media attention in connection with the bankruptcy cases he had handled. He has been inter­viewed by Barbara Walters on The View, appeared on the Montel Williams Show, the Today Show, Good Morning America, ABC News with Peter Jennings, and German State television, been interviewed on the BBC World Service, appeared on numerous local radio and television programs, and been quoted in Money magazine The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Baltimore Sun, among others.

Mr. Weiss is an experienced litigator, having been involved in a number of cases of first impression concerning debtor and cred­itor's rights, including Hernandez v. Suburban Hospital, 319 Md. 226, 572 A.2d 144 (1990) (Dischargeability of assignments in Chapter 7); Bunch v. Hopkins Savings Bank, 249 B.R. 667 (Md. 2000) (An heir's Chapter 13 filing will stop a foreclosure); In re Tubman, 364 B.R. 574 (Md.2007) ( 362(c)(3) does not lift the stay as to property of the estate); In re Barker, ___ B.R. ___ (Md. 2007) (A foreign debtor is not barred from filing bankruptcy in the U.S.); In re Bellamy, 379 B.R. 86 (Md.2007) (Counsel fees must be paid before distributions to other creditors) (NACBA amicus); Branigan v. Bateman, 515 F.3d. 272 (2006) ( 1328(f) applica­bility and time­frames).
