Vijay Mani

It takes a lot of courage to stand up, as an employee, and report the wrongdoing of the one who signs your paycheck. It is important to me that such courage is rewarded and encouraged. My clients understand that about me and know that I will do everything I can to help them.

Vijay Mani is an Associate in Joseph, Greenwald & Laake’s Labor and Employment Law Group.  He represents employees in disputes involving workplace discrimination, retaliation, and unlawful termination. Vijay also represents labor unions and counsels businesses in employment-related matters. In addition, he is active in Joseph, Greenwald & Laake’s False Claims Act practice, where he advocates on behalf of whistleblowers in claims against government contractors who have committed fraud.

Vijay has represented numerous federal sector employees regarding unlawful adverse actions, and achieved successful outcomes before administrative tribunals.  Vijay also participated in and prevailed at trial in a federal district court case involving gender discrimination and the Equal Pay Act.   

Prior to law school, Vijay worked as a Researcher and Clinical Trial Coordinator for various institutes within the National Institutes of Health.  He also served in AmeriCorps in Washington, D.C, where he worked with children affected by and infected with HIV/AIDS.

Vijay obtained his juris doctor degree from American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. He received his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he graduated with honors and served as President of the Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society and Chairman of the Student Health Advisory Board.

Vijay played college tennis at the University of Tulsa, and speaks multiple languages, including Tamil and Hindi.  In his spare time, Vijay enjoys pick-up basketball and a good chess match.
