Matthew E. Kreiser

“Success isn’t owned: it’s leased. And rent is due every day.” – JJ Watt

Matthew (Matt) Kreiser is an Associate in Joseph, Greenwald & Laake’s Labor and Employment Law Practice Group. Matt represents employees in disputes involving workplace discrimination, retaliation, and unlawful termination. In addition, Matt is also heavily involved with the firm’s False Claims Act practice, where he advocates on behalf of whistleblowers and the United States government and its several states in claims against organizations and government contractors who have submitted fraudulent claims for reimbursement, including Medicare and other types of healthcare and government fraud.

Prior to his employment at JGL, Matt held a number of positions in public policy development, analysis, and advocacy. He has advocated for the interests of hospitals and community-based healthcare providers at both the state and federal level. He also interned with the United States Sentencing Commission in its office of Education and Sentencing Practice, where he helped analyze issues concerning courts’ use of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, composing in-depth policy analysis of the problems associated with court-ordered restitution against individuals convicted of possession of child pornography under the Mandatory Victims Restitution Act of 1996.

Matt obtained his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida, graduating magna cum laude and earning induction in to the prestigious Order of the Coif. While at the University of Miami, he served on the executive boards of the law school’s Charles C. Papy Jr., Moot Court Board, and Psychology, Public Policy, and Law Journal. Matt also volunteered in the law school’s Office of Admissions and Student Recruiting, serving as a student ambassador and speaking with potential candidates for admission and their families.

Matt obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, majoring in political science with a minor in general business.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys working out and playing golf competitively. He is a former participant in the U.S. Amateur Golf Tournament and aspires to compete in additional USGA-sanctioned events, including the U.S. Open.
