Michal Shinnar was recently featured on WUSA-TV, weighing in on the changes coming to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and what they could mean for federal workers.
Michal described the shift as a major departure from how complaints are handled today. “It is a really big change. It is switching to a ‘fox guards the henhouse’ situation.”
Under the new approach, employees are pushed straight into an investigation, with no earlier step to try to resolve issues or learn about their EEOC rights. That could create real obstacles, Michal explained.
“This causes a lot of barriers, but most importantly, it really takes away the right of employees to get that impartial hearing before someone outside of their agency.”
