Joseph, Greenwald & Laake, P.A. is an AV-rated Maryland law firm with more than 40 attorneys and offices in Greenbelt and Rockville. We are seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support two family law trial attorneys in our Rockville office. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys handling complex family law and guardianship matters while serving as a key contributor to a small, collaborative, and high-performing team.

The successful candidate will play a central role in case management and litigation support, including:
- Managing all phases of written discovery, including drafting, responding, organizing, and coordinating document production
- Organizing, reviewing, indexing, summarizing, and managing case documents
- Preparing for depositions, hearings, settlement conferences, and trials
- Drafting and coordinating discovery and trial subpoenas
- Communicating with and supporting clients throughout the life of a case
- Coordinating with expert witnesses and consultants
- Assisting with prospective client intake and new client onboarding
- Maintaining case calendars, monitoring deadlines, and supporting overall case management
- Conducting legal, factual, and financial research
- Assisting with cite checking, legal drafting, and preparation of motions, correspondence, and court filings
- Preparing exhibits, trial notebooks, and litigation materials
- Supporting family law and guardianship matters from case initiation through resolution
- Collaborating with attorneys and staff as part of a small, high-performing team dedicated to excellence and client-centered representation
Required
- Significant experience as a paralegal in Maryland family law matters
- Demonstrated proficiency in litigation support, discovery management, and case administration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Experience managing large document collections and discovery projects
- Experience with Maryland electronic court filings (MDEC)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat/Pro, and legal technology platforms
- Willingness to learn new software (iManage, Litify, Family Law Software, Timeline Maker Pro)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with attorneys, clients, experts, and staff
Preferred
- Five or more years of Maryland family law experience
- Seven or more years of paralegal experience
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate
- Experience working with complex family law litigation matters
- Experience analyzing financial records and preparing financial summaries and calculations
- Familiarity with case management and/or family law software (iManage, Litify, Family Law Software, Timeline Maker Pro)
- Experience mentoring or training junior team members
