“Family law is not just about resolving legal issues — it’s about protecting futures. I advocate fiercely for my clients while guiding them with clarity, compassion, and strategy through life’s most difficult transitions.”

As a family law attorney for nearly 20 years, April Urban has been praised as the lawyer that you “should never step foot in a courtroom without.” April is experienced in negotiating and litigating high conflict and high asset cases, certified as a Best Interest Attorney, Civil Mediator and Family Law Mediator.

April understands that family law affects most aspects of her clients’ lives, from their finances to their children to their emotional welfare. She strives to offer impartial advice so the client knows what to expect, particularly in the long term. April believes that being honest about the possible outcome leads to the best strategy. She also helps clients navigate the complex legal system with sound advice, planning and preparation to relieve as much litigation stress as possible. Whether she is helping clients navigate divorce, custody, division of assets, support or a modification of a prior order, April is there every step of the way to guide them through the process and be their best advocate. She strives to be accessible and responsive to each client.

As a trained negotiator, April finds it rewarding when she can use her creativity and experience to help clients reach a fully tailored agreement that meets the child’s needs better than a standard court order could provide; however, she is a passionate and fierce litigator if an agreement cannot be reached. She is willing to negotiate or litigate, but in the end, her role is to help clients make the right decision for their unique situation.

April meets clients in Greenbelt, Rockville and Laurel or by phone and video conference. She represents clients in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Frederick County, Howard County, Montgomery County and Prince George’s County.
